Rachel, congratulations on your partnering with Demi, and many happy trails.
I was thinking you were at The Seeing Eye. Keep up the good work and just be
patient with yourself and all of the newness of it.

Subject: [NAGDU] My New Guide Dog!

Hello, (now fellow) guide dog users:

First of all, thank you for all your wonderful feedback so far. I will
definitely have more questions as I move along. For those of you who have
contacted me off-list, I will write to you soon--things are just very busy
here at the Seeing Eye! It is intense (and sometimes very
stressful) to learn a totally new travel technique, especially when it is
coupled with the usual dog maintenance and training. My mind is on perpetual
overload right now...

But I am sure you want to know about my dog! She is a little black lab named
Demi. She can guide at an extremely fast gait (which I love), she is
insanely intelligent, and she is quiet and not easily distracted while still
extremely enthusiastic when it is time to work.
She is also a total sweetheart. We are still working on coordination while
guiding, but when we are able to find the perfect balance, it is the most
wonderful feeling to basically fly down the street with her.

I will keep y'all posted!

Cheers!

Rachel
