[NAGDU] Another guide dog book on BARD

I feel that the dogs are not miracles. They are very well trained and they
are very loyal. To that end, they are wonderful. They are essentially
animals who have been well trained to do a specific task. It is grand that
it was determined that this was a task they could do. People become very
close to the dogs because they go with them almost everywhere, so that
creates a major bond. Dogs learn to do amazing things. I called this guy
asking for a ride to church today. Afterwards all of my dogs headed for
their various crates because they know they aren't going. They want to
please, so they will almost move heaven and earth to please us, and their
love is unconditional. For me, that part is the miracle. This is, of course,
only my opinion. I appreciate what my dogs have done for me and I miss it to
some degree, and I am grateful that this is a task they have learned to do,
but for me they aren't miracles.

I also found on BARD a book about someone's experiences with his Seeing Eye
dogs:  Freedom Found: 7 Seeing Eye Miracles, by Joseph Dean Klatt.

 

I've always considered my dogs to be special and helpful, but I wouldn't say
miracles.  But others feel they are.  To me, it's a bit odd, but each to
their own.
