Hi list, 

a friend of mine did a trip journal for a while and she liked it very much.  It helped her to put her dog’s behavior  in perspective. 

for me I guess I would have to really try hard to focus on the positive. As for rating, I think I would rate a list of three to five criteria like sniffing, scavenging, guide work, animal/dog distraction, etc. 

dog distraction is a very tough one to work with I feel when you are totally blind. I had to retire too dogs with this issue. Especially with my last dog I retired it nearly broke my heart as he was really great with guide work. 

Personally, I feel that every dog comes with a price tag (a behavior  that is just dog-like :). The only question is can we live with it and control or retrain it or is it just too much?
