[NAGDU] I did it

I would have to say I was proud of how he handled it. There was no
hesitation on his part except when he was questioning if I knew what I was
talking about at the end of my driveway.

Hooray! See, they don't forget what to do! And he did it in somewhat
challenging circumstances, too. Good boy!

As many of you know, I've been considering taking Fisher out of retirement
and using him on a limited basis, but I hadn't gotten to it yet. I've been
doing routine and regular obedience with him though, and he has responded to
it well.

Today things changed. We had tree groomers out in front of our house with a
bucket truck and saws and what have you. I needed to go to the dentist, and
large, noisy vehicles are a struggle for me. I told my husband I was
thinking of taking Fisher, and he said he kind of wondered about it. When I
got out the harness, Fisher walked right into it. He was excited and flew
down the driveway. I wanted him to cross at the end of the driveway to avoid
the work going on. At first he tried to turn left to go on the regular walk
we used to take, then right to go toward some of the places we often go. I
finally got him to cross straight. We turned right and went to the corner;
then he turned left before I was fully aware wee were at the corner. There
was a car parked on the walk running; no hesitation about whipping around
that car. At the corner he was more than ready to turn right. We went right
to the dentist's office door, and Fisher was so proud to have done it. He
was quiet and reserved as he has always been when we were on such an errand.

On the way home, when we were almost to the corner, I told him right. The
work was still going on at the corner. We walked down the street, and I told
him left left, and soon he made a left turn and crossed right at my
driveway. He was a happy, happy dog, and I was pretty pleased myself.

Sorry for long.
