[NAGDU] Reserved dog on routes

Hi,

He takes more time than needed to figure out what he needs to do on the up
curb. I give him 3 chances to get it correct before scolding him. Most times
he gets it before then, but the ratio is about 30% scold and 70% success
without scolding. The high ratio on up curb scolding is partly his age and
partly a new route that he hasn't completely mastered yet. The grass problem
is a good thing. However, I don't need him to stop every 3 steps to check
the grass line, which he does during some stretches of the route. Most of
his hesitation is on the return route though. He is praise based, so treats
on up curbs aren't an issue.

hay there
this looks like an interesting question, hence my reply to this question,
when you say that your guide takes their time on the up curb what type of
time frame are you talking about? a couple of seconds extra?? that has you
concerned, on regards to grass on the side walk and overhead bushes etc, I
would praise my guide for not brushing me against them she would be aware
that they are there, and would walk me around them, as she was trained to
do. So I am not concerned in regards to that, finally I am just curious is
your dog food rewarded trained???? or not?? just a thought, if your guide
was feed rewarded trained and you have no rewards in your pocket, hence
maybe could be the problem at the up curb. My current dog and previous dogs
were not food rewarded and all worked well.
