Usually, labs can handle down to 15 for a few hours at a time before they
require warmers on their body. The wind chill is more of a problem than the
temp.

If I'm remembering correctly she's a young lab in good health. If that's
correct, I seriously doubt she'll need a sweater.

I have a Doberman, which has a very short, single coat, and I don't put a
sweater on her until it's about that temperature. My lab and Boxer mix
doesn't wear a coat until it gets considerably colder. He does have a
double coat, but it's not as thick as a pure bred lab.

I do make sweaters. I have customers who purchase them for their labs, but
they generally live where it gets much, much colder. Also if a dog has
health concerns or is elderly they may be more comfortable in a sweater, but
in your situation my best advice is that it's not necessary.

Hello, everyone.

This may be a silly question, but here it goes. Currently, Becky and I live
in Long Beach, where the temperature does not get under mid-40 degrees in
the winter. We are moving to Merced, where the temperature can get in the
low 30's. Should I look into a dog sweater for Becky so she can keep a good
body temperature and not get too cold. We will be out in this weather
(dialysis and school.) Thanks for the information.

Elise and Becky
