[NAGDU] Retiring your dog

When I retired Jet, she went to live with my doctor. Then my doctor gave her to another doctor, with my blessing, who had polio syndrome and couldn't walk much. Jet spent the rest of her life leash guiding a wheelchair. The woman dwasn't blind, but her training made Jet want to continue guiding.
Spencer went to some friends who put him in the care of his mother. She stayed there until that person died; then he lived with her neighbor until she either died or was too sick to care for him. Then the lady's sister took him, but I always knew what became of him.
Fisher is staying here.
I havenoften found that I had friends who said when he retires they want him, but then when the rubber meets the road they really don't. My trainer would really like to have Fisher though, I think.

Subject: [NAGDU] Retiring your dog

Hi all! The time has come for me to retire my current seeing-eye dog. I’m looking to place her in a good situation for the rest of her life. Emmy is nine years old she will be 10 years old on February 21, 2018. I’m interested in what you all have done to place your dog when you were not able to keep them with you as a pet.
Thank you for any information!
Tara
