Dan & the List,

The National Association of the DeafBlind a Division of the National
Federation of the Blind recognizes anyone with both hearing and vision
loss that affects the daily function. This is the definition of
DeafBlindness used by the Helen Keller National Center.

This includes someone who is totally deaf and totally blind to someone
with low vision and Hard of Hearing and all points in between. We also
know that not everyone is comfortable with identify themselves as
DeafBlind, even if they have both hearing and vision loss.

We of the National Association of the DeafBlind Division share the
Federation philosophy that our dual sensory losses are physical
characteristics. That with the proper training, education, adaptive
technology and support, we can live the lives we want.

DB Tarzan,
My name is Janice Toothman, I am DeafBlind. I have light perception
only and am profoundly deaf. I am currently waiting in between guide dogs.

Welcome to the list. I do not often respond but find the posts
informative and insightful.

My email is below my name.

I have not had the interest or opportunity to update my research, almost two years there were enough--lol I did travel there with my guide dog, Evan, my super dog--smile. He was amazing and I wasn't too bad myself.

I mean I only hear in one ear, the right one, but I'm very functional...just curious, not trying to detract from anyone's situation.
