That is one of my main objections to the gentle leader.  They look too much 
like a muzzle.  That makes people think your dog is dangerous and 
aggressive.  Over the years during training when they show the class how to 
use one of the head collars, I always firmly and respectfully say I disagree 
with that piece of equipment and refuse to put one on my dog.   Fortunately 
my dogs have all been quiet gentle easy to control female golden retrievers 
so the trainers let me get away without using it for those training 
sessions.  Not all schools insist on everyone using one but some schools 
insist that you do it for a couple of sessions while on class.  I think they 
are cruel and too much like a muzzle.  Also I heard of cases where a dog 
wearing a head collar lunged or jumped and the handler pulled back on the 
leash seriously injuring the dogs neck.  I would never restrict my dog like 
that.  If a dog cannot be controlled by the usual collar and leash, then 
maybe it is not the right dog for that handler or maybe that dog was not 
trained as well as it should have been.  This is just my own opinion and we 
all have the right to use whatever we want to use on our dogs.  The big 
problem is that no matter what we or our dogs do, the public will always 
have something to say about it.  I have a problem when I have to fly because 
Eva is nervous and will lye by my feet shaking the entire time.  The flight 
attendants were very understanding but some of the passengers said I was 
cruel to travel with her if she is afraid to fly.  It did not do me any good 
when I tried to explain that I did not know she was afraid until I got on 
that plane.  I think I agree with Julie, we just cannot worry about what 
other people will think.  Have a fun and safe trip.

My concern is when you go threw security with the gentle leader on is when I 
would get the questions.
I don't want the dog taken away from me. This has happened before.
