We will be flying to Calgary AB Canada the end of July.  In doing our due diligence, we are left with some questions as to how to deal with the requirements of getting ourselves, a guide dog, and his food to Canada and back. Here's what we know as of today---1.  We need valid passports for travel.2.  Proof of a valid, current rabies certificate is required.3.  A health certificate is not required but recommended.4.  All the following criteria for food and treats must met---No more than 44 pounds may be transported.  The pet food and treats must be of US origin, commercially packaged, and unopened.  The food and treats must be in the possession of the traveler at the time of entry from the US.  The animal that will eat the imported products must accompany the traveler at the time of entry.  The imported product must be fed only to the animal that accompanied the traveler into Canada. 5.  Reentry to the US only requires valid passports, and a rabies certificate (although a health certificate is recommended). 6.  Pet food from Canada is permitted in passenger baggage.
At the end of the day, we are left with the following questions---Should we get a health certificate and can we bring the remaining food back?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
Regards,Tom
