[NAGDU] Mambo, the poky little puppy.

Hi, Deanna:

When I first got Demi, she had a tendency to want to walk a bit slow
for my taste. This was frustrating because I knew that she was capable
of guiding at a fast pace. Part of the reason, I believe, was simply
that she and I were still feeling each other out and not quite as
comfortable with each other at the time.

Besides the "hup-up," here are the other things that I would do to get
her moving faster in the beginning:

Jerk forward on the leash "accompanied by a hup-up."
Give her a firm but gentle pat on the hip.
Take small but quick steps to get her wanting to go faster.

Of course, I also cheered a lot for her. It sounds like you are doing
most, if not all, of those things as well.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of food is your pup getting? I have
tried a couple different blends with Demi, and the blend which we have
settled on is extremely high in protein. When she first started on
this blend, I definitely noticed an increase in overall energy...Could
diet possibly be a reason for a dog not wanting to move quickly?
