Hi,

I hearsd that they have also changed there training metheds. I think that
this is good. I had two dogs from them, but neither of them worked out, but
this is only my experiences so just take it for what its worth.

I realize that Pilot Dogs has not been referred too, but it is in Ohio and
they have a new facility. I don't know about ownership, but my last 2
guides have been from Pilot and they work fine.

I chose Pilot specifically because I swore I would never fly again after my
last flight with my guide. I was forced down a hallway and searched for
absolutely no reason. When I explained that Amos's harness was setting off
the alarm and the TSA people wouldn't listen, I had enough of their stuff!
Have you considered Columbus sent you don't want to fly?

Have a great day!

Depending upon where you live, another good option is Freedom Guide Dogs.
Two reasons I suggest them is that they transfer ownership upon completion
of training and provide only community placement. In other words, they come
to you. They have no facilities to house consumers, as they focus strictly
on providing training in your own community.

I would also like to recommend, as others have stated, you check out
ownership policies. I believe ownership has distinct advantages. Not only do
you need to never worry about your dog being taken away without cause, you
have the confidence that, when you need help, you do not have any concern
they will think you are a poor handler and remove the dog. Be wary of
Fidelco which states you own your dog after six months but contractually
assert they have the right to repossess the dog at any time and for any
reason at their sole and absolute discretion. No matter what they call it,
this is not ownership!

Fraternally yours,

Tray to gather information about the top 3 schools you might be interested
in going that. Some schools do grant ownership after two years of working
with a guide. TSE and GDB grant ownership but I'm not sure about GDF. It
doesn't hurt to talk to staff at some of the schools so that you can make an
informed choice. Some of us would be happy to share our experiences with
you, but as you know, the decision is yours. Smiles. I wish you the best
with your school search!
