Many guide dog schools, including Claire's Guide Dog Foundation, use
prisoners for puppy raising.  Some prison programs like the one in this
article also do the advanced skills training.  The pups are often
released to a puppy raiser family on weekends, so that they can
socialize in a public environment and are exposed to crowds,
restaurants, sidewalks, sports venues, & etc.  It was interesting that
Glenn Close supports these programs has been involved in prison work for
20 years.
