[NAGDU] religious organizations and guide dogs

I odn't necessariy consider it a problem either. Wha I *do* consier a problem is that someone that is not me made that decision "for my own good". Certainly it's their legal right, and it may even be the right decision, and, moreover, there's nothing wrong with leaving your dog sometimes. During my brief time with the LDS church, I didn't stick around long enough to go to temple or wear the holy underwear, there was no problem with my guide dog, and the people were generally just super super kind. But a non-doctrinal/religious reason like "It's better for your dog", no matter how well intentioned, shouldn't be in anyone else's hands but mine. Ever.

As far as the temple is concerned, most people I know feel as I do - there's a lot of moving around, people coming from many different directions and we just don't feel we'd take our dogs to the Temple even if we could. I don't want my dog stressed. Most people will ride with others and, thus, can seek assistance. In any case, I never considered leaving my dog at home being a problem. I've always been taught that there should be times when we leave our dogs at home so a visit to the Temple every once in a while is a great time. HTH!
