Congratulations, Gary! I must say both your dogs have very cool names.
I enjoyed reading about your training with Bogart, so I'll definitely check out your blog about Gonzo.

Subject: [NAGDU] new guide dog finally!

hello everyone:

some of you might recall that I previously had a standard poodle named Bogart who sadly passed away suddenly last December. Well I finally have my new dog. He is a black standard poodle named Gonzo. He is a bit smaller. than Bogart was but full of beans. We are just back from our 2 week class at dog guides Canada. if anyone is interested I did write a blog on the experience and it is at gonzo's.blogspot.ca

it's really interesting having. a new dog and realizing all the things I had taught my old dog but forgot I did so. each day he seems to be getting a bit calmer which is cool. I'll be curious to see how long before he settles into our daily routes and also. how long to teach him the first few key things like finding the bus stop, garbage and polls for button activated cross walks. they didn't use any treats or clicks at my school so I'm keen to see if I can train him with positive feedback and love alone.

Just thought I'd let people know about the new guide dog on the list. :)

Cheers

Gary with new poodle Gonzo
