When I had surgery I had someone bring my dog to me when I was up and walking the halls, etc., but I doubt I would have had her there full time.

Your dog can only be with you if you are able to care for her during your stay. This would mean having people to come and feed and relieve her on a schedule. If you are in a ward where it’s required to wear protective clothing, such as an ICU, then your dog would not be allowed to stay with you and may be prohibited from visiting. 

I’m sure folks here have other resources as well. I’d make a plan for someone to care for her while you’re recovering. all the best with the surgery.
