[NAGDU] Dog names

I knew someone in class who got a dog with the same name as her last one.
She changed it right away. It was called Maggie I think and she changed itt
to Megan, or it might have been the other way around.
So if you got a dog with your boss' name, you would quick come up with a
nickname for it I think.
My first dog was named Brie. I knew I wasn't supposed to tell her name, but
we were in a department store in Morristown. Some old woman asked me her
name. I said, "Brie." She said, "Green? Her name is green? Green like green
cheese?" I agreed that was the case and ended the conversation.

I agree, common names could be a big problem. Mary was my mother-in-law's
name. That would have been awkward. I was in class with a dog named Jerry,
which is my husband's name. Or suppose I got a dog with my boss's name?
Not good. Just calling the dog would cause confusion.

Glad to see Bill isn't on the list! My dog is unique in so many ways...
Richard though? Eeeek, I thought Bill was bad when I heard the name. And I
did... I absolutely hated his name. But then I discovered how many names I
can get out of Bill: Billy Bob, William Robert, Billiam, etc. Most people
get so confused that they get his name wrong, even though I usually give his
name out if asked.
I do wonder though... Hopefully the schools let you change the dog's name
if they share it with someone in your family. For example, I have a niece
Maggie. And plenty of people are called Marry. Seems odd to use common
names for dogs like that.
