Sorry to hear this, Rox. Poor Soleil! She needs time to mourn the loss of
her buddy. Give her extra love. Time will heal her - and you.

Rox, so very sorry for your loss. Wishing you and Soleil the very best! I
sure hope Soleil gets her appetite back and I'm sure in time her spirits
will be better, too!
Thanks for all that you share about your dogs!
Best with Hugs,

Sorry if people see this more than once but I can only write this one time.
Yesterday we took Shouty Mildred-- my 15 year old retired service dog to the
vet because she seemed to be in quite a bit of pain. This was sudden-- I'd
moved in to my new house 2 weeks ago and the vet had put her on a new
medication shortly before that which seemed to really help her. So I was
surprised to see her suddenly in so much pain. So we took her in and he did
some xrays because there was a marked increase in swelling of the right hind
leg since her previous appointment 3 weeks ago. The xrays showed what was
probably bone cancer. He said we could have done a biopsy but he felt like
it would just confirm his diagnosis and he felt like it would only prolong
things. So I made the choice to end her life.
Soleil was very close to her and is now refusing to eat or really drink much
water or to be involved in much. She will still work and seems to enjoy
that but if things don't turn around for her in the eating and fluid intake
department we are going back to the vet tomorrow.
It's Mardi Gras here so I am pretty much stuck at home. I'd normally find
make-work for her but it's chucking down rain and we can't walk and the
forms of pubtrans are all clogged with celebrents. I am hoping things turn
around for her in the next day or so.
We will all miss our Mildred very much and I'm still just at a loss.
