[NAGDU] Harnesses with removable handles

I think that is a little narrow minded, but I see where they are coming from, too. So if I had such a harness, I would take off the handle on planes and so on and use my "standard issue" when I didn't need to take it off. I think the dogs would get used to the change in very short order. They might wonder about it at first, but they are really very resilient.

TSE trainers have implied to me that using any harness other than the standard issue will result in a lack of training support. They will still give advice and make visits. However, they can't promise any type of results, good or bad. They will also recommend to change back to standard issue. We use a standard issue harness and found no problems with it taking too much space. We walk 10-20 miles a week depending on weather and season. He loves his standard issue harness And would be depressed without it.

I have a PawPower harness, modified by Julie J, but I don't use it a lot. It is handy though to have a removable harness handle when we go out to a small restaurant. It's easier for Krokus to curl up out of the way without the handle sticking way up.
I had a PawPower handle, made of PVC, but I found it very wobbly. My dog has a light to moderate pull. Julie replaced that handle with a sturdier metal handle, which is much more stable, but also heavier. It's also totally quiet. When I use my regular harness, it clicks a bit, but with the PawPower harness we're like stealth guide dog.
My regular harness has an offset handle, which helps me not crowd the dog. I didn't know Bridgeport made a handle that would fit a regular TSE harness, and be removable. Anyone have a website?
Tracy

Subject: [NAGDU] Harnesses with removable handles
Hi all! I am hoping that some people who use a harness with a removable handle respond to this email. My dogs come from the Seeing Eye and the handle on the Seeing Eye harness does not remove. I know their harnesses that have easily removable handles. If you use one of those, why do you like it. When I get in to the car I usually remove my dogs harness. This is because it seems like it’s more comfortable for the dog and also sometimes the reflector tape has scratched up The dashboard on people’s car. So I removed the harness for those two reasons. It’s become just a habit. But I wonder if it would be more convenient to have a harness with a removable handle. I’m getting my next dog at the end of September. After I come home I could switch to one of these harnesses. Is it difficult for the dog to make the switch? How do you know which harness to get? Thanks so much for any help!
Tara
