thanks for this message.

I'm glad you're not taking him back on leash all the time. I also don't 
think this would do the trick because it doesn't sound like he's peeing 
inside the house for attention seeking, frustration or anything of this 
nature. As you wrote, his relieving schedule was always challenging and 
complicated. So I feel it would be very unjust to take away his freedom 
for something he probably can't control.

It seems like you're doing everything you can--rationing his water 
intake, took him to the vet, letting him out frequently. I do hope this 
won't continue so  you don't have to think about other options like 
retiring and rehoming him. Sorry this is so difficult right now!


I once wrote on here that I have a dog whose water intake has to be 
limited or otherwise he has accidents in the house, but this is a 
different problem, I understand that.
