[NAGDU] canine crutiate ligament problem

Dan:

I am sorry to hear about Parker's problem. I had experience with a torn ACL
on Cinnamon's right knee in 2005. Cinnamon's symptoms were the same as you
have seen with Parker. She was reluctant to put weight on her right back
leg. The knee joint was swollen, tender and hot to the touch. After
anti-inflammatory pain meds and rest with no success my vet finally had to
recommend that she be retired. I think some vets will try surgery but it
usually does not work so that is why my vet did not recommend it for
Cinnamon. I am sure that techniques have improved in the past 13 years so
it is good that you are taking Parker to a specialist. Good luck to you and
Parker.

Hello, beautiful people.

Dan here, with the Parker Dog.

anyone her have experience with their dogs having a torn or damaged
CCL...cranial crutiate ligament?? I'm sorry but the spelling is alluding me.

I have a situation like this to deal with, I hesitate to write about
personal stuff regarding my dog and what's happening but soto make it
short that's a possible diagnosis for his reluctance to put weight on
the back right leg, something that only became parent the last three
days or so.

Please tell me publicly or privately about this, I'm very upset, and I
can of course tll more details but anyway...I hope everyone's doing well.

I'm seeing a specialist tomorrow I'd like to be armed though with a bit
more info about what other people with guide dogs might have experienced
with this.

Goood news is that Parker is his happy-go-lucky self and he's been
getting some rest the last few days and likes to sleep anyway, just like
his owner--smile sorry had to try to lighten my mood a bit...Already saw
the vet and so on.

Dan
