[NAGDU] Deb's comment about abusive behavior

Hi, Deb, it's disturbing to see people being abusive toward their dogs. I
sometimes wonder if that's why things get put into contracts about the
schools being able to take a person's dog away, but those things don't
really work because of legalities. I don't know what the best thing to do
is when you encounter such behavior, if you know what school the person got
their dog from, it might be worth calling the school to report the situation
so that someone could come out and do follow-up with the person. If it
persists, you can also always call the police and they have animal control
people who can come evaluate the situation as well. It's hard to approach a
person who's abusive to their dog because then they get defensive so nothing
much gets accomplished but it's hard to walk away, too. I'm sure you know
all this already, but guess I just wanted you to know I empathize even
though I don't have much in the way of answers.

Hi Carlos and welcome back to the iest. If you want to say, what's your new
job? I'm working at a workshop because I'm 64 and it's hard to find a
better job. A couple of people in there aren't so nice to their dogs. Also
some people drop wrappers andbits of food on the floor which my dog wants to
grab. Therefore, I have to use the gentle leader when we're walking around.
The other day a woman in the workshop said to her dog, if you don't behave,
I'm going to beat your head in and I don't care if everybody sees. I
muttered a y in protest. Give me a break.

It has been a while sense I last subscribed to the list. I am in the process
of moving to the Tampa area to start a new job. I am currently working my
third Seeing Eye dog Xeana. She is a five year old black Labrador retriever
from the Seeing Eye.
