[NAGDU] Rain ponchos

Hey Peter, thanks for this. I need something for Eva. I hate going into
places with a dripping wet golden. I carry a towel when it rains but it is
hard to get all the water out of her long thick fur. This little rain
poncho might be just what I need. Will it fit under the standard guide dog
harness? This is one thing I like about this list. We can share ideas of
products for our dogs.

Hey, while we are on weather subjects, here’s something we’ve liked a lot
for just when it is raining since it is wintertime now…

Metukah, being a silken, is got more of whippet than borzoi, and so her
main body fur is medium short and she does notice the cold when it is wet
and cold enough. Its nice in a cold rain to give her a simple windbreaker
poncho on occasion, when a jacket wasn’t necessary just to get the rain off
her to keep her comfortable. There are many brands of rain poncho out
there. This one folds up to the size of a fist, and works well and I really
like it. About twelve bucks. On amazon here is the link:

You’ll have to do the math for your dog size, or perhaps call RC Pet
Products to find out what size is best for you. Metukah is 22 inches high
at the shoulder, and two and a half feet long. But being a sighthound,
she’s only six inches wide at the shoulder. We use an extra large. If she
had the girth of a normal dog, this might be a poncho for a shepard, or
perhaps a black or golden. I have to put a few stitches and relocate a
little bit of velcro to adjust it down for her narrowness, then it works.
But that’s only a few stitches, about ten minutes of work. I have one of
these in each of my packs, and hardly notice it.
