[NAGDU] Iris Cyst

My sister only has one eye, but she can see fine. I don't understand how
that works, since I thought stereo vision was important, but it works for
her. Though, if it works as well for a guide dog, I imagine it takes a
while for the brain to make the adjustment, so retirement might still be the
best option. But hopefully it won't come to that.
Good luck.
Tracy

Hy, all.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences regarding cysts and
other eye issues.?? I got a second opinion and this vet also agrees that
a vet specializing in canine ophthalmology is needed. Luckily, neither
vet feels this is an emergency issue, which is a good thing.?? Paige has
an appointment in late November with the Veterinary Ophthalmology
department at the University of Illinois' veterinary teaching hospital.
I wish I could get in sooner, but apparently animal specialists are as
booked up as human ones.?? <sigh>
I'm going to notify Guide Dogs of America this week just to let them
know what's going on.?? This might be something hereditary, or it might
not be.?? Either way, I'll be on their radar.
I'm hoping this will amount to a scare, but in the back of my mind, I
know the worst result will be Paige losing an eye and her working
career.?? Unless I'm mistaken, a dog missing an eye wouldn't be able to
guide effectively, though it can still live a normal doggy life.?? If
this is the case, I can at least be assured that Paige will be happy as
a pet.?? I already have a home lined up for her if this happens.
Thanks again for your thoughts and support.
Lisa
