Hi Marilyn,

That is great news that something is finally being addressed with the ESA animals!! Sully, my first guide dog was attacked by the same dog twice and I had to retire him at 5. After the attack he wanted to attack every dog we came across. Sent him to a dog trainer for 2 weeks to try and get him back on track, but no luck. I still feel horrible about that!

Good morning Rebecca,
I would not sign it. Your dog is a guide dog and performs a task for you like your previous dogs. I am sure you have a security deposit and if there are any damages when you move they will take money out to repair the apartment. I think a lot of landlords are doing this because of all the people passing there pets off as emotional support dogs . Alabama just passed a law and many other states are following about these emotional support dogs that aren’t trained and people by vests and I’d cards on line saying it’s an emotional support dog. So far this year my guide dog Hedwig was attacked 3 times by an emotional support dog. My senator put a bill after I spoke to her aides about this problem getting out of hand in NYS.

In your case, it should be pretty obvious and you should not need further documentation, though the landlord could reasonably ask you for proof of your disability if they really doubt you. This is really none of your neighbors business IMO.
