Hello all. Shanna, thanks for your answer.
Yes, I totally agree to the fact that we should know our dogs well enough
before starting a different kind of training or work with them. I'm an
owner-trainer, so that's not a problem.
It was a whole weekend workshop and it went very well. A friend of mine was
my companion and helped me when teachers were paying attention to others.
Besides that, one day my friend got late and some people I get along well
with at the club helped me to retrieve the disc before we started to work
with our dogs. Also One of the teachers was very nice and explained things
to me individually when he had some free time besides working with me during
practice time, so we had a lot of fun there.
I did take a crate but used it just a few hours. I took my dog with me at
lunch time and worked him occasionally because I think that work him around
dogs gives me a chance to reinforce ignoring distractions even though he's
very good at that. I took his leash off before getting back home so that he
could play with the other dogs and people and he played just a little
because he was tired by that time :)
By the way, he was the only assistance dog.
Now we have a few discs and we'll keep training at the club just for fun.
Oh, and I'm considering obedience competitions too, so any advice will be
grateful.
Greetings!
