I use 2 products with my dogs.  The first is dog toothpaste on a finger brush.  All my dogs have been fine with this.  I brush the dog's teeth after his last meal 5 times a week.
The other is PetLife Dental Gel, which I use the other 2 days of the week.  I use my finger to rub it on his teeth.  The bottle says that if the dog has tartar on his teeth to use it more often.  I did that with my dog Ben, and we were able to avoid the vet doing a teeth cleaning.  The twice-a-week regime seems to be keeping Krokus's teeth clean enough, too.

Dog teeth cleaning involves being sedated, and so I really try to avoid it if I can.  So far, so good.

Hi all, 

I need some advice on the best dental care products you have used for   dog teeth and gums.  There are so many on the market- chews, wipes, gels, powders etc.  When I first got my dog, I was brushing her teeth which she didn’t like and it wasn’t very effective.  My vet told me about a dental rinse to put in her water.  I have been using that and have stopped brushing.  Now she has developed bad breath and gingivitis.  My vet has recommended professional cleaning.  Has anyone had an experience with this type of cleaning?  If I do decide to have this done, I  then want to maintain her clean mouth and need suggestions on the best products for this.  Thanks.
