[NAGDU] Choosing a guide dog school

Hi Shelby.
All the schools I know of in the US take people 16 and up. The only place I know of that takes younger is Mira in Canada.
Are you 15 or so? It can be tricky having a guide dog in high school, because of the dynamics of dealing with other students, and with family and teachers who think they know more about dog handling than you do. Or so I gather. I think there are some people on this list who got their first dog in high school who might advise you, if you're in that category.
Tracy

Subject: [NAGDU] Choosing a guide dog school

Hi everyone, I am looking at guide dog schools, specifically schools that accept students 15 and up, and I was wondering if you can tell me about your experience, things you liked and things you didn’t. This will be my first guide dog.
Thanks,
Shelby
