Uber is introducing a new thing where you can get a pet-friendly ride and bring your pet along.  This is good, and I’ll need it when Krokus retires, but I hope it doesn’t make drivers get confused between pets and service animals.  I’ve forwarded the ad from Uber, and they say right there that service animals aren’t pets, but we all know how many drivers don’t get that.  But, overall, I think it’s a good thing.

Ride with your pet by paying a little extra.* Just choose Uber Pet when requesting your next trip. As a courtesy to your driver, we recommend bringing a towel to protect the seats in the vehicle.

Please note that while you’re insured for every trip, your furry friend isn’t. Uber’s insurance policy covers rider injury or damages occurring during an Uber trip.

Riding with a service animal doesn’t require a Pet Friendly Ride 


If you’re riding with a service animal, you don’t need to request a Pet Friendly Ride. Per Uber’s Service Animal and Assistive Device Policy, drivers are obligated to provide service to riders with service animals, regardless of the trip type.

 











	



Masks are still required 



Based on guidance from the CDC, everyone must wear a mask when riding with Uber, even if vaccinated. Please do your part to help keep drivers safe—and note that they can cancel the trip if you’re not wearing a mask.
