[NAGDU] another incident with Huber and its getting serious

National Federation of the Blind has waged a very public and consistent campaign for over five years. The truth is, you’ll never get a public boycott. We certainly could go after some powerful press coverage. I feel confident that the national Association of Guide Dogs users will step up the effort even more given this rash of new incidence. I also would suggest that denials are worse in some areas of the country than they are in other areas. For example, I have not been declined a ride in Colorado Springs in almost 2 years now. Another part of the difficulty is that driver turnover is incredible. You can warn and train thousands of drivers. But if 60 or 70% of those drivers are gone over the next two years. It makes it difficult to enforce consistent training, proclamation, policies. Both of these rideshare services are Goliaths. They are corporate behemoths. They bait and switch on pricing and engage in other malpractice. If this were easy. We would have already solve the problem. It isn’t. All we can do is ramp up the battle! I have no doubt that we will. It’s another indication that people who are blind continue to face real discrimination. We continue to face barriers to our equal participation in society. Therefore, the absolute necessity for an active membership and robust engagement in the national Federation of the blind.
