I mean, The Seeing Eye has very high standards, that is true. However, I have seen them bend over backwards to accommodate someone who has physical limitations. Especially, I have seen them do so when the person is a previous graduate of the program, and therefore, they know them very well. I think reaching out to Angela might be helpful, but also, I think it would be helpful to know who conducted your in-home assessment and Juno walk. Also, stamina is kind of a big term. Are they saying for instance that you’re overweight? Are they seeing your cardiovascular isn’t there, are they concerned about your physical strength to control and correct the dog? Or are they talking about tolerance for the heat or other weather conditions? There’s a whole lot of things that stamina can mean. Additionally, I’m wondering if they said no, or if they said, please check in with us often and reapply as soon as your physical health is better. Because there’s a huge difference. And if it was the former, I would be very disappointed in them, and also very surprised. If you ever want to chat, or, if you were interested, I participate in some groups on WhatsApp, where other Blind folks work together, and talk about health and fitness and dietary and other physical goals, and would be happy to do anything I can that might help. You’re a good handler, and again I find this surprising and kind of upsetting. I am sending lots of hugs.
