Wrap it in cheese?
A vet from GDB told me to get vegan marshmellows cut in half and stick it inside. The marshmellows are very sticky and the dog cannot lick it off the pill. And if the dog has any allergies, the marshmellows won't interfere with trying out the anti allergic type food because the marshmellows have no protein from animals, like the regular marshmellows have.

Subject: [NAGDU] Pills

Igloo is a Labrador, but he is cautious about unusual food. This is great most of the time, but it also includes his heartworm pill. I got the chewable kind, thinking he would just snarf it down like my other dogs have, but he just sniffs it and refuses to eat it. I end up sticking it in the back of his mouth and letting him lick whatever I was using to try to disguise it off my fingers, like peanutbutter.

I think, when I have to re-order,I'll look for the non-chewable kind that will fit in a pill pocket, but I still have 3 chewables to go. They're the big, hard chewable, not the ones that feel like cake.

Anyone have ideas about how to get Igloo to quietly eat his pill?

Tracy
