[NAGDU] off leash recall

Hi Richard,
Try very short distances with her on a sit stay and do 5 or 6 times with
the Kibble treat visible and tons of praise for coming. Then do once with
no treat visible (hide it in a fist) but make it a different very high
value treat, give her lots of time to think about it. You may have to use a
leash and collar to get her moving the first couple of times until she
realizes the high value treat is there. Repeat with treats visible then
once with no high value treat visible. Do the same the next day. On Day
3, do 4 times with Kibble treat visible and twice with no high value treat
visible. Every few days, subtract one from the visible side and add one to
the invisible side. Once she's solidly doing no treats visible at a very
short distance, increase the distance in short increments.
She has learned to look for a treat before deciding to come. If that
doesn't work, do it with a leash and collar along with the treats and if
she doesn't come or doesn't start coming immediately, tug sharply on the
leash to get her moving towards you then lots of praise for coming
quickly. You're not asking her to come. You're telling her to come. It's
a command that can mean the difference between life and death. On the
occasion that you need to use the command and don't have a treat handy, do
extra praise for coming and then go back to practicing at home with the
treats. The randomness actually will help with anticipation.
Hope some of that is helpful.
