So glad to hear Vicky is feeling good!
Yep, your mouth is important. A friend of mine had a bad tooth that got
infected and caused her all kinds of problems, so it makes me think that
it's better for Krokus to lose some teeth and avoid bigger problems later.

Updates on Vicky and her current "issues".

I worked Vicky today since she has sufficient attention to her work, wanted
to work and has her "issues" under control. She wagged her tail and is very
happy.

My thoughts are with you Tracy and Krokus. I'm really glad that my own
dental work wasn't quite so traumatic yesterday. I was reminded how
important dental care and dental health is for canines and humans yesterday.
They took my blood pressure, checked for mouth cancer, did some lazer
procedures for deep pockets in my gums and took some pictures as well as
doing x-rays. Just as the vet approved of the tooth paste and brush I use on
Vicky and the technique, the vet reminded me that there are things which may
still need additional attention. My dentist reminded me of the same and gave
me a little lecture about flossing. We all only get one mouth and one set of
our own teeth and, just as this is the entrance to your body it can have an
impact on your heart and much more. So, let's keep those SMILES coming and
give those four-legged pals extra hugs and pats.

PS, I know that Vicky feels better, not only is she eating, but she is
wagging her tail as she guides me and bringing me her ball as soon as she is
out of harness.

Best of luck Tracy. We are here to support you.

Thanks everyone.
I forgot about antibiotics, but he's been fine with them before.
We bought him some canned food which is pretty much the same as the dry food
he's been eating, so he can have soft food for a while if he needs it.
Hopefully he won't lose too many teeth, but sounds like even a few missing
will not cause major problems. So long as he can still grab a toy and play
with his pal Igloo he'll be happy.
Poor old guy, though. But it's good to know other dogs have been fine.
Tracy

Hi, I am there,

More accurately, Vicky is there. I recently had Vicky's teeth cleaned
because the removal of cracked back molars means that they get build-up that
regular brush will not remove. In the process the vet found a loose middle
front tooth that she must have bumped somewhere. Anyway, she spent most of
the day at the Vet's. We came home with medication and a quiet and sleepy
lab. The advice to feed a high quality prescription dog food didn't work out
to be the best thing for Vicky. Basically, since Friday night I and Vicky
have been going outside every three hours. She has lots of gas and a very
small amount of evidence for her discomfort and urgency. That is,
unfortunately, except for a couple of times when thing blew up. Thankfully
we have hard wood floors which clean much easier than rugs. She is now on
another medication to help with the diary and is on the way to recovery. She
is also back to her regular food. Not all dogs have such drastic reactions
to changes in food or presence of m edication. The only thing that I can
say is that I am thankful that I was able to enjoy a nice time with my son
and daughter-in-law to celebrate my birthday before things blew up. We spent
three days in not very pleasant worry and action but she has survived. Dogs,
like people, have different reactions to changes in diet and to medications.
I personally don't do real well with either so I can sympathize. I recommend
that you be vigilant and ask lost of questions. If things seem wrong, don't
hesitate to call the vet and ask questions. I personally am looking forward
to sleeping a full night which I hope will happen soon. My kids are both in
the thirties and I no longer have to get up with them, so I guess it's
appropriate that Vicky and I get to do these things together. My husband has
been earning halo points with his support over the past four days.

I wish you both the best.

Joy with Vicky who says enough sharing of her personal issues, thank you.

Tracy, my previous dog had teeth removed and was fine afterwards. I think
it was two, and I didn't have to do anything differently after that. I
don't know what would have happened if the vet had needed to remove more
than that.
