[NAGDU] Seeing Eye

A friend of mine was in class with Morris Frank. It was her first class and his last. She said he had quite the foul mouth, which I'd heard before. And he would walk down the street singing. When his instructor reprimanded him, he said "I've been working dogs since way before you were born, and I know what I'm doing." Sometimes I feel like that myself, when some young whippersnapper tells me what to do. Not always, but sometimes.
My friend also heard that TSE told Morris they had a nice golden they thought would be a great match, and he told them to keep their, um, darned golden; he wanted a shepherd.
I would love to have met him. He was quite a character. You don't change the world by being a mild milquetoast.
Tracy

Well, of course, I never met Morris Frank, but my previous husband did. He’s a good bit older than I am, and he went to the Seeing Eye in about 1945. He was just coming off of an injury from explosives. Morris Frank interviewed him and told him he was doing well in a lot of ways, but he needed to go home and get his act together, totally and then in a year they would see him. He went back and got a dog named Queeny.
