My 12-year-old retired guide has arthritis in his hind legs. He limps when
he gets up, but gets better as he moves around. He's taking Cosequin with
eggshell membrane. We have some pain pills for him, but haven't given him
any yet.
One of the vets he's seen talked about other treatments, like injections or
laser treatment. Both those would have to be done often, maybe weekly,
which is a hassle, but would be worth it if it made the old boy feel better.
Do people have experience with arthritis fixes that work well?
And do people have ideas about when my 5-year-old working guide should start
taking something like Cosequin to keep his joints strong and healthy? He
still bounces around like a puppy, but I heard somewhere he should start
before there's a problem, but wherever I heard it didn't say when.
