[NAGDU] arthritis

Hello Tracy and all,

Tracy asked the question about when to start Cosequin with younger dogs
to prevent arthritis. I have seen that recommendation and, in fact, I
started my dog on an arthritis preventative the day we got home from
Seeing Eye. He wasn't quite two then. I don't give Cosequin as such,
can't afford such an ongoing high cost. I looked at the amount of
glucosamin, chondroitin and MSM in the cosequin pill for his weight and
found a fairly close equivalent in a capsule for humans. I pay about a
third of the cosequin cost. He gets three of them every day in his food,
along with a fish oil capsule. That works well since he eats them right
with his food. I know not all dogs would do that. I think the
recommendation to start dogs on Cosequin or an equivalent at a young age
is a good recommendation to follow.
