I have past the qualifications for a guide, but the job I have is not good and safe for a dog. Because I have to leave and come in the dark.
I am not disrespecting service dogs, they are very valuable to the people who need them. Yes I knew when I put this help that I was on a slippery slope, but I need to be in a very very large building by myself. My boss might let have a dog even if it wasn't a guide, but I can't take the dog on the bus.
Again, when I was offered the hob that was my first thought, is I don't want to really be a long in this very large building by my self. So I thought that there are many real good dogs that are not quite up to the grade, but still need somewhere to go, and I would use it as a guide, because I do have trouble with things on the walk way a bit.
I just know that someone who is totally dependent on the dog, the dog has to be on the money or you can die. I don't need the on the money dog, I don't a dog with an A score, I could use a dog with a B score.

Sent from Xfinity Connect Mobile App

------ Original Message ------

From: Cindy Ray via nagdu
To: 'Vivianna', 'NAGDU Mailing List, the National Association of Guide Dog Users'
Sent: April 2, 2015 at 7:23 AM
Subject: Re: [nagdu] Working third shift

Well, yeah, but she can't have a pet in the building or on the bus. She wants a sort of guide, one that didn't quite make the grade. But, Barb, it would still be a pet. I think everybody would like a dog they could take with them, especially if they are working third shift. If you fear working third shift, you should not work third shift. And, as Viviana has said, you really should rethink the reasons you would want to receive a free, well trained, well breeded dog and training from a school. This is a huge investment for the school and, really, for you as well. Get a pet, keep it at home, enjoy it, and forget the dog thing if you are so sighted that you don't need a dog. If you are doing the dog's work, it would soon figure this out and wouldn't really do the work for which it was intended.
Cindy

-----Original Message-----
From: nagdu [mailto:nagdu-bounces@nfbnet.org] On Behalf Of Vivianna via nagdu
Sent: Thursday, April 2, 2015 7:19 AM
To: NAGDU Mailing List, the National Association of Guide Dog Users
Subject: Re: [nagdu] Working third shift

What you are wanting is a pet not a guide dog. i, personally, don’t think that someone like you should be taking a well-trained guide dog just so you can bring it on the bus. this is a mis-use of the guide dog in my opinion.
in all of your posts in the past, you have never once mentioned that you need a dog to guide you. you keep on telling us how much sight you have.
just get a pet.
this is a big problem that we are having now. everybody wants to bring their dog on the bus, so, we are running into many folks mis-representing service dogs. and, now, we face regulation.
yes, you can lie and get a guide dog school to take you and give you a dog. you can go there and pretend to let the dog guide you. but, is this ethical?
and, is it fair to the dog?
even a toy poodle will let you know if someone is in the building.
just my opinion.

Vivianna

> On Apr 2, 2015, at 7:07 AM, Barb breuer via nagdu <nagdu@nfbnet.org> wrote:
>
> Hi, Barb Breuer here.
