Hi List members,

The job description is for a call center. So my question is is the
workplace accessible. I am sure that they use call center software such
as Oracle or others.

We should investigate and find out. Many blind people apply for customer
service representatives jobs and find out that they could not be hired
as the software used is not accessible.

Hi,

So this doesn't appear too strange to all of you, here is more of an
explanation. Cheryl Echevarria posted information on Disney job
openings. I went into the site and found the link to the job itself and
forwarded it to the list using their referral method. So if you follow
the link below, you theoretically should be able to apply for it. Hope
it works; I am not known for my technological expertise. Now if I can
just get them to come to our job fair next year!

Well we should try and apply for the jobs first and then see, again, I have
also posted the Disneycareers.com website, where you can apply for not this
type of job but all jobs in all countries that Disney is in.
Again, I have a connection with the Access Manager of the Theme Parks and
resorts, also Statler Center up in Buffalo who teaches hospitality has
placed students with Disney.
They have many people with disabilities across their company, but I will
reach out and ask Yasmin, the first step would be try and apply and then go
the next step.

Yasmin,,

I think the best way is for someone (or maybe several people) to apply for
employment at Disney and find out. If we find that their system is
inaccessible, we can work with them to make it accessible. We have several
technical and legal resources, including Brown, Goldstein, and Levy and our
own General Counsel working on inaccessibility issues in employment.

It is true that many customer sergvice-call center jobs use programs that
don't work well with Jaws. I've applied for several customer service and
call center jobs, gone through theinterview process only to find out that
Jaws doesn't work with their CRM platform.

The jobs for which I have applied weren't interested in "working" anything
out. How does one convince an employer to investigate finding a solution to
inaccessibility?

Hi,

So this doesn?t appear too strange to all of you, here is more of an
explanation. Cheryl Echevarria posted information on Disney job openings.
I went into the site and found the link to the job itself and forwarded it
to the list using their referral method. So if you follow the link below,
you theoretically should be able to apply for it. Hope it works; I am not
known for my technological expertise. Now if I can just get them to come to
our job fair next year!

Good evening everyone,

Disney employs a number of blind customer service reps in their
California Call Center. I developed a Web site for one of them several years
ago and know a little about what working for Disney is like. They've
obviously done some work to make their CRM software accessible. Perhaps Mark
Jones would know more about that. Hope this helps.
