Good Morning ALCON,

As mentioned, please see below the process for volunteering to participate
in this pilot program for WMATA.

Waymap has prepared a pilot application at Silver Spring Station and
Braddock Road Station with its adjacent bus facilities. Waymap
representatives will meet with each participant who wants to test the app
at the free area of the station next to the Station Managers Kiosk at
Silver Spring Station South entrance and at the free side of the station
manager’s kiosk at Braddock Road. There are limited spots available. Please
let us know if you will be able to participate. Also kindly indicate if you
would like to use the app on your mobile phone for the pilot or you prefer
a test phone. If you prefer to use your mobile phone for the test, please
respond with the model of your mobile device e.g. Apple iPhone 11 or
Samsung Galaxy S20.

*Testing available: * April 25th through 29th, and May 2nd through 6th,
2022.

Time available for testing 9:30am to 4:30pm by schedule only.

*General Background and Information:*

Waymap is an app that works on your iPhone or Android phone to help you
navigate through the built environment. It was particularly designed for
people who are blind or with low vision. It can also be helpful to people
with other disabilities. Their algorithm, TRACE, uses the sensors already
on your smartphone and accurate maps to help navigate through the built
environment. For more information about the app and a small video on how it
works please visit https://waymap.org/

*Purpose of Test*

The purpose of the test is to demonstrate how the Waymap app works on a
Metrorail and Metrobus station by allowing the participants to navigate from
one mode of transportation to another. Waymap will gratefully receive
feedback and suggestions to help improve the app going forward. The routes
include use of Escalator and Elevator.

*Approximate time per participant:*

The test will include an introduction to the app and step calibration. The
introduction and step calibration plus the test and follow up question and
answer period will take approximately 2.5 hours.

Any AAC member who would be interested in participating in this pilot at
Silver Spring and/or Braddock Road stations, please do email me the
