NCABS minutes for October 13, 2009
Members present:
Brice Smith: President
Cindy Bennett: 1st Vice President
Justin Salisbury: 2nd Vice President
Sean Mealin: Treasurer
John Dyson: potential member
Jess Smith:  member
Cala Estes: potential member
Gary Ray: NFB of NC President

Members absent:
Sharon Newton: Secretary

Purpose of Meeting:
1.      Introductions and attendance: Brice Smith and Cindy Bennett

2.      Conference call time: Calls will be held the second Monday of each
month at 9:00 P.M. (Brice Smith)

3.      Second student seminar: Contact GMS for potential meeting space.
March 28, 2010 is a good potential date. Ideas for improving the sign
up process by creating an online registration form. New ideas, vendor
hall, more interaction between presenters and attendees, Disibility
Office reps present. (Brice Smith)

4.      Treasury report: current balance $745.68. $68.66 was earned during
the NFB of NC convention. For more info about the treasury report
contact Sean Mealin. (Sean Mealin)

5.      NCABS website: Buy a domain name, www.ncabs.org if available. Sean
will be in charge of setting up the site. Motion made to purchase a 3
year license for the domain name www.ncabs.org and to host the website
on Sean’s server. (Sean Mealin and Brice Smith)

6.      Getting the word out: Link the website to www.nabslink.org and to
www.nfbofnc.org. Contact and distribute information to university
disability offices and DSB offices. (Brice Smith and Gary Ray)

7.      Membership: Link up with blind students in the area. Start a buddy
system, active students link up with newer students to keep in touch
and make sure they know about what’s going on with NCABS. (Brice
Smith)

By next month: Have the website up. Deligate getting the word out.
Move into concrete plans for presenters for the student seminar. Get
with GMS.

Meetings will be held the 2nd Monday of each month at 9:00 P.M.
