[Ncabs] more krispy kreme

Please note- I made that proposal provided that the tickets work at all Krispy Kreme locations. Not too many people in Charlotte are going to want to buy tickets that only work at a Raleigh Krispy Kreme.

I certainly agree with Cindy's interpretation of the options. My personal belief is that we're best off buying a set number of tickets up front and distributing them to members to sell. I don't think many people are going to buy tickets from someone they don't know well if they can't get the tickets from the seller on the spot. In other words, I think that I would only be able to sell tickets to people who know me well because others would not trust that they would ever see me again for me to give them the tickets.
I think that having a station set up with actual doughnuts may be fun, but I think it would be what's called a "skinny rabbit." We shouldn't hunt skinny rabbits because there's not a lot of meat on their bones. Plus, I would hate for us to buy more doughnuts than we can sell that day. I'm sure the vouchers will last longer than the doughnuts themselves, you know? I think buying vouchers with NCABS money and mailing them to members to sell is the key. We have to then make sure that our members actually sell them so that we can get the money back. When I was a sighted kid selling candy bars for little league, the players all had to pay the full amount of money that they expected to receive from selling the candy bars when receiving the case of candy bars. It gave us the incentive to actively sell the candy bars because it was the only way for us to get our money back. I don't think any NCABS member would have a hard time selling 20 or 25 vouchers. Would you all agree with running our fundraiser similarly to the little league ones I described?
If we let members commit to selling a certain number of tickets, they will send us the money, we will send them the tickets, and they will sell the tickets.
Does anybody else have ideas?

I think what Preston is saying is that we can sell the tickets 2 ways.
We can either purchase the tickets from Krispy Kreme and sell them, or
we can take orders from people who are interested in buying a ticket,
and then take that list of people to Krispy Kreme and buy a ticket for
every person who has given us money. The advantage to purchasing the
tickets beforehand is that once we interact with buyers, we don't have
to arrange to see them again, but we also run the risk of purchasing
too many tickets which would then be a cost to NCABS. The advantage to
taking orders from people who want to buy a ticket is that NCABS won't
buy too many tickets, but the disadvantage is that we have to talk to
people multiple times, we have to take their order and collect their
money, and meet up with them again to give them their actual ticket.
The third option would be for NCABS to purchase actual doughnuts and sell them.
I personally believe that we should set up a station and run it for a
few mornings. Perhaps a place on NC State's campus would be good, but
i understand sometimes campus's have rules about noncampus orgs
selling stuff, so maybe we could find a place right off campus, or we
could set up a station where cars would be driving out of an apartment
complex in the morning, or where people would be getting on the bus. I
think we should also buy tickets and give each member some that they
must sell. That way, once they make the sale, we have the money, and
there isn't need to meet up again.
Preston, you might have answered these questions, and I'm sorry if you
have, but is there an expiration date on the tickets? Also, can these
tickets be redemed at any Krispy Kreme? If so, that would be awesome,
because otherwise, members outside of Raleigh can't really help.
Thanks, and Jewel, i hope that clears up some of your confusion. If
not, please let me know.
