2. Durham Bulls game fundraiser
There are tickets being sold for a ball game that will be taking place
on Thursday August 4th located in Durham. Half of the proceeds will go
to N CABS.
Alan Chase will be heading a conference which will include the
baseball game. This will be a great opportunity for the members of
NCABS to gather together as a group. Please come and enjoy the game
and have an opportunity to meet face to face with your fellow members
of NCABS.
Transportation will be provided from Raleigh to Durham and back to
Raleigh for those going to the game.
To purchase the tickets, you can send a check or a money order to
Preston Johnson. His phone number is
919-520-1898
Or you can Use the contact form found on the NCABS website or the
NCABS mailing list.

3. The Governor Morehead School Alumni is hosting the Envisioning
Youth Empowerment conference on August 3-6.
This year there will be a person presenting a crash course on how to
start, maintain and grow your own business successfully. With the
Unemployment rate for blind people close to 80%, this will be a great
class to attend to learn skills that could decrease that number. There
also will be a Person coming to teach and play beep ball. Everyone
knows how we all loved field trips as children, well here is an
opportunity to take one at this event. Members will be taking a field
trip to a local university to speak with a professor on topics such
as,
•	What do professors expect from students,
•	Different options available for students with education,
•	Documentation that students need to know about,
•	Policies students should be aware of,
•	And what is the expectation of students.
You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions pertaining to
the discussion.

A person will have a workshop about programs available to students for
receiving text books and academic programs in an alternative method.
A person will speak on how students can access and read materials
along with many other things..

Help spread the word about this event and tell your friends to
participate. Because of the summer holidays, advertizing these events
through academic institutions is not possible, and going through the
DSB is not dependable, either.

Tips already provided
Future leaders: We should have a round table/panel discussion on How
people can become a great leader in the NFB and specifically NCABS.
We should have someone come in to advise and to rebuild up our
portfolios and resumes.

We may also have a speaker about paratransit.

We need to start to plan for the future. Check your school calendars
and come to our July conference call with an idea of the best time to
have our student seminar for next year so that we can decide on it at
the time. If we plan it now then it gives us more time to get it all
set up and ready when the day comes.

Robert & Hazel Staley Scholarship Application
For those who have not already and wish to do so. Download, complete,
and submit the scholarship form to have a chance of winning a

Two students will receive a scholarship of $1,500. Dead line is June 30.
