Hello everyone:

The UN Convention on the Rights of Person with Disabilities, if ratified, would help to make it easier for people with disabilities to live, study, and work in foreign countries. Last year Senator Hagan voted "yes". Senator Burr voted "no" because he felt that passage would infringe on parental rights. I have spoken with staffers in both offices in the last week. Neither office would commit at this time to an up or down vote. Let us thank Senator Hagan for her vote last year and urge her to vote "yes" this year. Let us urge Senator Burr to vote "yes" this year as this legislation does not infringe on parental rights.

To call:
The main Capitol phone number is 202-224-3121.
Senator Hagan's office number is 202-224-6342.
Senator Burr's office number is 202-224-3154.

When phoning please ask for a call back. If you do not receive a call back in a couple of days, please call again.

To e-mail:
www.burr.senate.gov - the "Contact Me link is at the bottom of the page
www.hagan.senate.gov - the "Contact Kay" link is at the top of the page on the right. Please ask for an e-mail back from the appropriate staffer.

Thank you for your attention and time concerning this issue. Your contact counts!

Sincerely,

Sharon Newton
