Below you will find the minutes for the February NCABS monthly Conference
call.

 

******IMPORTANT***** The March conference call will be held on Monday March
3rd (the first Monday in March) due to most of the NCABS officers being on
spring break.  Be sure to join us on Monday March 3, at 9:30 p.m.

 

North Carolina Association of Blind Students (NCABS) February 2014 Minutes

A motion was done to approve the minutes and the motion carried. 

On Monday, February 10, 2014, the North Carolina Association of Blind
Students (NCABS) held the monthly conference call.  The meeting was called
to order by vice president Kevin Curren shortly after 9:30 p.m. 

Website:  Kevin is now the administer of the NCABS website.  On the website,
he has created and posted a questionnaire about the SUP seminar that was
held on Saturday, January 25, on the campus of the University of North
Carolina. The seminar was well attended with between 25-30 people.  

 

Washington Seminar:  Bobbi, Sharon, and Alan attended Washington Seminar
from NCABS.  The teach act and the bill that talks about blind individuals
getting paid below minimum wage are making progress through congress.  

Ruby Tuesday:  This Saturday, (February 15) is the Ruby Tuesday fundraiser
in Greensboro, N.C.  If you go to Ruby Tuesday anytime on February 15 and
you present a flier or an electronic copy of the flier, 20% of your bill
will go directly to NCABS.  

April SUP Seminar:  The April SUP (Students Uniting for a Purpose) seminar
will be held on Saturday, April 12, in Raleigh, N.C. at the Governor
Morehead School.  NCABS will have an information booth at the hunt.  Kevin
and Eric are in charge of planning fun activities for the kids who will be
at the Easter Egg Hunt.  It is a good opportunity for NCABS to network with
potential NCABS members in the future.  Kevin and Eric will provide a report
about what they plan to do on our March conference call.  

New Business:  ****IMPORTANT****  The March NCABS conference call will be
held on Monday March 3rd.  Due to most officers being on spring break at our
normal time, we are moving the call a week earlier in March.  Again, the
March monthly conference call will be held on the first Monday of March
(Monday March 3rd at 9:30 p.m.  

Philosophy Discussion:  With Valentines Day being in the month of February,
Bobbi led a wonderful discussion on dating.  

Shortly after 10:30 p.m., the meeting adjourned.
