We are pleased to announce that the 12th annual EYE Retreat will be July 5
to July 11 in Nashville TN at the Tennessee School for the Blind.
Applications are now being accepted for staff and volunteer positions. We
are seeking staff who are current college students or employed individuals
with visual impairments who can commit to a week of mentoring youth with
visual impairments.
We are also accepting applications for participants. Participants must be
at least 14 years old, have a visual impairment, and be planning to attend
college or go into the workforce They may reside anywhere.
What will the week be like? Participants are responsible for ensuring they
get up in time each morning. Each dorm has to work together to use a
budget to purchase food to cook each morning for breakfast and plan who
will cook, clean, and serve. Mentors lead a variety of classes on topics
that they feel are most important to ensuring a successful transition to
college or work for participants. Off campus trips are planned to visit a
local college and local workplaces. Each dorm has to budget money to
purchase food to cook each evening for dinner and decide who will cook,
clean, and serve. A variety of evening recreation is available including a
game room, gym, playground, computers, and social time.
Attached is a flyer for you to distribute to your friends and family.
