Keeping Up With the Evolving Tech World

 <https://nd.at4all.com/announcement/announcementdetails?id=250>

Photo: A few of our newest devices available for check-out in the foreground. The watch and timer with whiteboard assist with task and time management. The device in the middle provides a means for communication. Those shelves contain a good chunk of the other devices available for professionals and individuals to borrow.

We know it’s impossible for you to keep track of the latest and greatest assistive technology devices available.

That’s why we’re diligent about staying on top of that for you; researching, studying, and purchasing devices for our loan libraries.

We’re constantly getting in new things, learning more about them ourselves, and making them available for you to try and borrow.

If you’re new to our loan library process, just know that it’s easy - especially if you connect with one of our AT Consultants or AT Technicians. They can help you identify the items you want to check out, provide the basics to get you started, and guide you through the process.

If you are a veteran user, the link to our library database is provided in the orange box below. The search engine can be finicky, but our national partners say they’re working to improve it. Remember though, if you get stuck, just reach out. Our team is good at navigating the system.

People like Beckett (below), or you, or your clients - you’re the heroes of our story. We’re here to help you on your journey, but you’re the ones who make the choices, take the steps, overcome the odds, and Discover your dreams.

We really just want you to know that we’re here when you need us; and there are very likely some really awesome tools out there available to help you as an individual, care partner, or professional.

AT of the Month

Switchbot Button Pusher

Light Switch Activate

Some of this smart technology really does seem futuristic. But the thing is, the future is here.

This device allows someone to turn on and off the light switch from their phone, including providing the ability to use their voice to activate the switch. And there’s no need for a bunch of rewiring to do it. The SwitchBot has a little arm extending from it that pushed the switch for you.

There is a huge line of devices in the <https://ndassistive.us15.list-manage.com/track/click?u=97ef6904f75163d00f64d4377&id=7163791d50&e=e3a53f79ee> SwitchBot inventory including one called a FingerBot that can press buttons in a similar fashion.

The Call - I Still Believe (Great Design)

Album: Reconciled, 1986

There are some songs that just speak to us.

At a specific time and place, they mean more. More than the beat. More than even the lyrics alone. But together, they say something profound and meaningful. Not to everyone. And maybe not even all the time. But sometimes, everything just works.

I can’t get this song out of my head at the moment.

Along with the Alarm, Charlie Sexton, and Platinum Blonde, The Call was part of my under the radar group crushes in high school and college. The ones that didn’t show up often on the radio or MTV. Did you celebrate like I did when you found an album or cassette of a band like these at the local record store? Jackpot!!! But it sure wasn’t easy. And sometimes it was a leap of faith because I had only heard one song.

I got lucky with The Call. Great stuff.

In 1989, The Call’s “Let the Day Begin” reached #1 on the mainstream Billboard chart which helped popularize the band a bit. But they broke up soon afterward, so we’re left with just a few albums.

Next month we’ll pick things up again with some good old rock music from a band that hails from Canada and traversed the 70s and 80s scene. When I saw them live, as the backup band, I fell instantly in love. Still one of the best live performances I can remember.
