<b>Minimum Qualifications:</b>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s Degree in education, special education/visually impaired,
orientation and mobility, vision rehabilitation teaching, vocational
rehabilitation, social work, occupational therapy, or related field
<li>Completion of course work in vision special education or vision
rehabilitation
<li>One year of related work experience
<li>Orientation and mobility preferred
</ul>If unable to find qualified applicants, consideration will be given
to underfilling the position as a Vision Rehabilitation Specialist I with
a salary range of $2,512 - $2,930 per month. Minimum qualifications
for Vision Rehabilitation Specialist I are: a bachelor’s degree in
rehabilitation teaching, orientation/mobility, special education,
vocational rehabilitation, social work, occupational therapy, psychology,
counseling (including addiction counseling), human resource management
(human service track) or related field.<br>
<br>
<b>Summary of Work:</b>
<ul>
<li>Provide evaluations and instruction in assistive technology and other
vision specific skills (braille, orientation and mobility social
interaction, independent living, recreation and leisure, careers, visual
efficiency, and self-determination) to adults who are blind or visually
impaired
<li>Plan programming for adults
<li>Provide consultation to adults and their family members, vocational
rehabilitation and human services personnel, optometrists,
ophthalmologists and any related personnel
<li>Provide resources, materials, and equipment for appropriate vision
specific adaptations as it relates to assistive technology and other
vision specific skills
<li>Provide inservice training
<li>Provide public awareness and education
