Okie dokie. I will try but as I said Tim has to be in Rapid city SD that
afternoon for a session with the surgeon and since there is travel time
involved (2 hours one way) we may not make it back in time. But we will
give it our best effort!

Subject: [Nebraska-senior-blind] NFBN Senior division Monthly Phone Meeting
Reminder- September, Monday the 29th!

HEY.as in Hello! I'm hoping you can join us on our September 29th phone
meeting. We need to talk about convention. Even if you are not able to
attend, we still need your input, and you need to know what the rest of us
are doing; this is our Division.

Here are the facts and numbers needed to get on the call:

The Date: Monday September 29th

The Time: 7:30 PM CT and 6:30 PM MT (This was a compromise)

Phone# 2675070400

Access Code# 203747Pound

To aid us in our discussion for the upcoming meeting, here are relevant
notes from the Division's most recent Board of Directors Meeting, June 9th,
plus I just now added in some commentary, and a fleshing out of the proposed
agenda

The main discussion was about the state convention in October.

The topic of discussion, sharing of alternatives, will center around the
theme of exercise, which will be a significant element to the prime theme of
health, throughout the convention. After discussion, it was concluded that
mental exercise might be an important topic. Robert will contact
appropriate agencies to see if someone can come and talk to our division
about keeping mentally alert; possibly with some mental games to help with
memory. Robert also filled us in with what was in a box from our former
President Fatos Floyd. There were still raffle tickets available which we
decided we could sell. Discussion about whether we wanted to sell tickets
before the state convention. It was decided to check with members to see if
they would be willing to do so. Also decided to sell tickets for $1 per
ticket with the prize being half the profits.

Also discussed whether selling pieces of cake at the meeting as a fund
raiser; decision to be made later.

Discussion about the order of events at the Senior Division annual meeting
at state convention: Among the subjects were when to have election, when to
have the national representative speak, how long to have registration open
before lunch. And we will pay for lunch of any speakers we might have about
mental exercise.

-Registration would take place starting at 11:30. If someone is a member,
they are asked to pay dues. Note, we need to advertise this notion of dues
and it won't then be a surprise; also check on contact information. And if a
person is not a member, ask them to join, dues are $10.00; also check on
contact information. And in both of these cases, check on status of the
Braille Monitor (Receiving-SignUp-Cancel-WhatFormat).

-Introductions: Welcome and update our guests; Have all present introduce
themselves; Eat; Keynote speaker presents; Start Business meeting; Officers
give yearly report; HAVE PEOPLE Give personal testimonies; Have Elections;
Plan for next year.

Robert stated, that even if we do not fill all board positions, that will
not stop us from running an effective senior division. We need to touch base
with each member to see who is coming. See who is interested in helping run
the division. (Nancy Oltman does not plan to run (she is the secretary ).
Sheryl and Karen and Robert will plan to carry on with taking a position.

***And in the theme of health, of living the life you want. Below is the
content of a message from Karen Lemmon. It is about a skiing trip to the ski
slopes in South Dakota. This could be a real confidence builder for some
people! And of course, a pleasurable trip from the get-go.

Dear Friends

Past clients of the NCBVI with the help of Fontenelle Tours and arrow Bus
Line are excited to offer an opportunity to the blind, visually impaired and
physically challenged individuals to travel to the week-long Black Hills
Ski for Light winter event in Deadwood, south Dakota January 25-30,2015!
The week-long program is of course a lot of fun but any participant or
volunteer for the program would tell you that more than that it is the
most inspiring and motivating event offered to blind, low vision or
otherwise physically challenged individuals. Persons with physical and
vision challenges are constantly dealing with obstacles in their daily life.
The Ski for Light program provides a break from the constant attention of
dealing with blindness or mobility problems while the program also builds
confidence and the wonderful feeling of independence that is often lost to
the blind and physically challenged as they deal with the problems dealt to
them by an often prejudice society. The program is available to all
individuals who are meeting these challenges in life but as usual the
transportation to such an event is difficult. With the help of Ward and
Kathy Kinney of Fontenelle tours and Arrow Bus Line there will be a bus
leaving Omaha on January 25 to the Black Hills of south Dakota to attend
this event. The bus will return on January 30. We will make stops across
Nebraska to pick up interested participants. You need to make arrangements
now with Fontenelle Tours to reserve your seat on the Bus!

What is the Ski for Light event?

The event is a wonderful get away that has fringe benefits offered as you
become successful in outdoor activities that even you may have thought were
not possible for you. The week-long event each January offers lodging,
meals, entertainment, all ski equipment, lift ticket, sleds, snowmobiles,
all in city transportation and a banquet ticket for each participant at
the cost of $200 or if individuals qualify they may receive financial aid
and then the cost is $100 for the week. If you are a disabled veteran due
to sight or other physical challenges your cost is $0 for the event as well
as transportation!

How do I reserve my seat on the bus?

Now is the time to contact Fontenelle Tours to reserve your space on the
bus. We are asking for a $50 deposit which will be applied to the total of
the cost of your travel. At this time the round-trip cost is $200 but we are
working on grants and donations to lessen this expense.).Our reserved bus is
wheel chair equipped. Fill out the bus application form and send it and $50
to the Fontenelle Tour address below If you are a disabled veteran due to
sight or physical challenges, fill out the attached application and mail it
in..you do not have to include the $50 deposit . Get this application in now
as this will hold your seat on the bus. For your convenience, when
Fontenelle Tours receives your bus application , they will mail to you the
application for the event. Fill this application out and mail it to the
Black Hills Ski for Light address below..

Are there other ways to get involved if you do not qualify as a
participant?!

Another way to participate is as a volunteer for the event and volunteers
will receive the same transportation offering as participants as long as
there is room on the bus! Volunteers in the program get a reduced rate of
$200 for the lodging and will receive meals if they pay for the meal package
which is $68 for the week. They also have all ski equipment and lift tickets
paid. Volunteer cost. total for the event is $268
Volunteers will also need to pay the bus transportation fee which is
separate and should be held with a $50 deposit to Fontenelle tours now to
hold your seat! . To be a volunteer contact the Ski for Light program. To
ride the bus contact Fontenelle Tours. Both are listed below.

If you cannot attend as a volunteer but would like to help us
get the cost of the bus lowered, you may send donations to Fontenelle Tours
whose address is listed below.
