    Dear Fellow Senior Division Member

RE: Get ready for our Monday June 15th meeting

    **Contents of message:

*#1 Info to get on the call

*#2 Read the newest version of Last meeting's slightly edited minutes

*#3 and.yes, more about our revision of our constitution: I went through the May corrections and spotted several problem areas and have listed them below: (Interesting, we didn't recognize some of these in prior readings?!

    *#4 Agenda for the meeting

*#1 What you need to know to get on the call

-Date of our call: Monday, June 15th

Time for the call: 7:00 CT; 6:00 MT

    -Phone number to call: 1-605-475-6006

    -Access code: 203747Pound

*#2 See attached minutes, read and if there are corrections, either send them to me, or wait until the meeting and Karen will take note of them.

*#3 Here are my findings for more revisions for our constitution:

Note: all errors below were found within our May corrected version. I have made the appropriate corrections. Check out the attached copy, after you read the below text.

    -#1 Deleted 11 extra spaces

-#2 Finding this reference in the May minutes: ".Capitalization of the word 'Board' should be consistent as well as capitalization used for 'Active Members'."

And if the two words "Active Members," both need to be capitalized.I found need for the following fixes:

First one found- In article III: In the very first sentence "active members" are not capitalized-

*Original- Section One-Active Members The active members of the National Federation of the.

Second one found- In article IV

*Original- ".are elected by a majority vote of the Active Members who are present and voting."

Third one found- still article IV

*Original- ".the nominees has received a majority vote from the active members present and voting.." .

    Fourth one found- article VI

*Original-One-third (1/3rd) of active members must be present

    Fifth one found- article XII

*Original- ".vote of two-thirds (2/3) of the active members present and voting;."

-#3 Lack of consistency in punctuation in section titles- error below:

(Note the period at the end of the section title..section one is missing it, section two has it)

Section One-Active Members The active members.

Section Two-Affiliation. Membership in the National Federation of the.

(It makes sense that a period at the end of the title is correct, otherwise as in the first sample above, you see the title and first sentence run together; all other section heads with a title have a period at the end.)

#4 Inconsistencies in placement of article titles: a few are centered, most are not:

Samples: Article V., VI., VIII. Are centered, none others are; important to note all lines of the document's header are left justified, and so I'd think the intent was to keep everything starting from the left margin.

#5 inconsistency in how we present the roman numerals- as in a few have a period at the end, and most do not! And so what I think is correct, it is to have a period after the numeral.

Examples of which few had a period: Article IX., x., XI., XII. (all others did not.)

(I have not fixed these specific items, yet.) i

    *#4 Agenda:

-First- Come-to-order, say our NFB Pledge (see below and let us make sure we do this!)

-Next- Reports Will be discussed and approved (secretary & treasurers)

    -Next- Old business:

#1 A brief discussion of the readiness of our constitution to be sent off.

-Next- New Business: Advertisement for Braille writer, progress.

#3 Also, any new stuff that any of us bring to the meeting.

    -Finally- brags & drags

    -Adjournment

    NFB Pledge:

I pledge to participate actively in the efforts of the National

Federation of the Blind to achieve equality, opportunity, and security for the blind; to support the policies and programs of the Federation; and to abide by its constitution.

    Respectfully yours,

    Robert Leslie Newman

    President, NFBN Senior division

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future.

Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams.

You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back
